Welcome to our site!
Our 2026-2027 programme is now available. Please check our Up and Coming Events page to see what a great selection of speakers and talks we have lined up over the coming months. Our new season kicked off on October 5th with Dr Stella Fletcher who gave us some fascinating insights into 'The British in Venice'.
In later months we will be covering Human Rights, Climate Change, AI, the music of Jake Thackray, the state of British policing and the rule of the Emperor Augustus.
If you are new to the Lit and Phil, take a moment to check out our Past Events and see what a wide range of topics and speakers we have had in the past.
Everybody is welcome at our meetings. There is no need to book ahead. You can take out an annual membership which covers all six talks in the season, or come as a guest and pay at the door.
If you are interested in getting involved with the society, please have a chat with any of our Council members - we are always at the meetings and would love to talk to you.
Do you have any questions? Or do you have suggestions for speakers or the type of talks you would like to hear? Maybe you'd like to volunteer to join the committee and help us run the society. Whatever it is, we'd love to hear from you.
Or if you need more information on how to be a member, please contact us via our Facebook page or email warrlitphil at gmail.com
All meetings take place at Friars Green Independent Methodist Church at 7.30pm.
